Provincetown Dramatic Arts is presenting its annual Women’s International Theater Festival April 26 – 28, continuing the tradition of ten- minute plays by local women playwrights. Featured playwrights this year are Brigid Moynahan, Candace Perry, Lynda Sturner, and Margaret Van Sant.
The plays are:
“It’s The End of the World” by Brigid Moynahan
“Look What You Made Me Do” by Lynda Sturner
“1969” by Margaret Van Sant
“Miss Furr and Miss Skeene” by Gertrude Stein
“La Emergencia” by Candace Perry
“We are also presenting the play we are taking this year to the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival,” said Artistic Director Margaret Van Sant. “The play is Gertrude Stein’s “Miss Furr and Miss Skeene” adapted for the stage by Lynn C. Miller. The play is about two important artists, Maud Hunt Squire and Ethel Mars, who were members of Stein’s salon in Paris and who later moved to Provincetown.”
The ten-minute plays are performed by local actors and the themes range form caring for elderly parents to building “the wall” and how to stop it. Some of the actors are: Paul E. Halley, Margy Marhdt, Jennifer Stratton, Allison Hyder, Braunwyn Jackett, Tia Scalcione, Lynda Sturner, Jane Macdonald, Fred Biddle, Sandra Paredes, and Racine Oxtaby.
All of the events are at the Davis Space at WOMR, April 26 and 27 at 7:30 with a Sunday matinee April 28 at 3pm. There will also be an auction and raffle of events, items, and artwork to support the festival and IDGTF participation.
Tickets are $15.00 and available at the door.
